University of Texas doctoral student, Carly Kocurek spoke to Baker College students and to Dr. Comer's Gen X class on the occasion of her particiaption in the SXSW Interactive event. Her doctoral topic concerns "Masculinity and the Golden Age of Video." Kocurek is shown in a YouTube interview about her participation on the panel, "Are Women Taken More Seriously on the Web?" at the SXSW Interactive event.

An investigative look at a generation of over-achieving “Supergirls” written by a nineteen-year-old journalist with a firsthand view of the widespread phenomenon.

Liz Funk is a New York based freelance writer and college senior.  Her work has been published in USA Today, Christian Science Monitor, Newsday, CosmoGIRL!, the Huffington Post, Tango magazine, Vibe Vixen magazine, and Girls’ Life. She writes a blog about women’s issues for the Albany, NY newspaper The Times Union.  She is a senior at Pace University, where she studies English and Women’s Studies in the Honor College. She is a senior fellow of Young People for the American Way Foundation, and has served on the National Organization for Women Young Feminist Task Force.
